[Vigan] Betamax: Clotted Chicken Blood, a Cheap Vampire Food

"Now, betamax is more popularly known now as a food and not a piece of technology that has been long forgotten with the advent of digital age."

Palagutom Kid ate BETAMAX today. A popular Filipino street food made wholly from clotted blood of chicken that surely vampires and aswang would love. LOL! Eating blood is sometimes a religious issue. I just have been from the church this day (Sunday) and after absorbing the Words of God as spiritual food, I ate this clotted chicken blood as a physical food.

I believe, eating blood depends upon your conviction, besides, what matters most is "the thing that comes out your mouth" and not "the thing that comes in". Forgive me for this principle but what you eat does not affect who you are, what is more affecting are the things that go out your mouth, e.g. bad words, cursing, hurting words, etc.

Enough for that, Palagutom Kid ate betamax once again after several years! I don't know but the idea of eating betamax never came to my mind lately. What is always programmed is eating rice and sweet desserts. Uhmmm.

By the way before telling more words that would possibly annoy you (chos!), I just want to tell something about the history of betamax based on my experience. LOL!

The existence of this cheap street food can be linked to the obsolete huge black VHS tapes (that takes all the space of your bag) which is also called betamax during time immemorial, haha! (about 1990's, something like that). Just a warning to minors, VHS tapes could be an abbreviation that little kids may not know so never mention VHS tapes to them. That is a hard lesson in history, a subject most kids hate. LOL!

Anyway, VHS tapes (a.k.a. betamax) became popular before the existence of CD players. It's cubic structure and black color can be similar to this another betamax (the food now). So the pieces of cubes punched by a pointed stick made from bamboo can be virtually look like the VHS Tape (betamax).

I was asking the vendor if aside from blood , what other ingredients have they added here, she replied while exxageratedly opening her mouth so wide with "vetsin." By the way, do you know "vetsin?" Not because it is called vetsin, it is already bad so you don't need to remove the "sin" from vet-sin, chos!

Vetsin is another casual term for Monosodium Glutamate, a cheap seasoning made popular by Ajinomoto. Ask your mother about it.

Now, betamax is more popularly known now as a food and not a piece of technology that has been long forgotten with the advent of digital age. By the way, the food I ate only costs 4 pesos! So cheap, makes me palagutom more!

[Vigan] Shawarma: The Affordable and Cheap Arabic Food

"What I love about Shawarma is that you can eat it fresh from the rotating spit. I love the heat."

Shawarma has turned to be a very popular street food and even "mall-food" if you are not on the streets. The price depends upon the situation, LOL. Some can offer you cheap shawarma for as low as 25 pesos while some can reach up to 60 pesos. Of course, the size does matter when we talk about the price. However, Shawarma is rarely priced at 100 pesos or above. Like if you agree. LOL!

    Shawarma
Anyway, Shawarma is a popular Levantine Arab meat preparation, where lamb, goat, chicken, turkey, beef, or mixed meats are placed on a spit (commonly a vertical spit in restaurants), and may be grilled for as long as a day (Oh ha!)

What I love about Shawarma is that you can eat it fresh from the rotating spit. I love the heat, lol. It is very available in cities and major towns. Of course don't expect that you can buy this at the mountainsides, riversides or at the middle of the lake. ROFL!

In the long run, it is always affordable. Tayo nang mag-Shawarma!
